Committee develops avenues to deepen the faith of our parish community by offering a variety of liturgical services, prayer experiences, educational opportunities, and occasional evaluations of our weekend liturgies.
Holy Cross Cemetery, operated by Holy Name of Mary Church in the town of Ellicottville at the junction of Routes 219 and 242, is a spacious, well-maintained and attractive cemetery, located in a pastoral setting among the gently rolling hills and valleys of central Cattaraugus County. Pre-dating the Civil War, Holy Cross Cemetery offers a beautiful and serene final resting place for hundreds of Catholic pioneers and residents of the area.
The Altar and Rosary Society of Holy Name of Mary is a longstanding spiritual and service organization dedicated to supporting the needs of our church and Pastor. We welcome all ladies of our parish to join us.
We meet on the first Friday of the month. Our meetings combine a business agenda and an enjoyable social, refreshments and fellowship. As our title suggests, one of our objectives is to the needs of the church altar. We care for the altar cloths and sanctuary for the church, and provide flowers as needed.
Spiritually, we promote a greater devotion to our Blessed Virgin Mary and recite the rosary.We look forward to meeting new parishioners at any of our monthly meetings. Please watch the bulletin for our announcements and come join us.
Oversees the financial affairs of the parish, plans the parish budget, reviews and approves the Parish Financial Report, and coordinates various improvements to our parish complex. Some experience in business, accounting, or financial expertise is required for membership on this committee, and approximately five meetings are held each year.
Promotes parish fellowship by planning social activities, such as excursions to cultural events and other enjoyable trips.
Decorates and maintains our church ambiance, especially during the Christmas, Lent, and Easter seasons.
A quiet and confidential ministry of our parish, assisting individuals and families in need, in crisis, those with health problems, and generally reaching out to the poor and disadvantaged of our parish and community with compassion and aid. All referrals for assistance should be made to the pastor, and are held in strictest confidence.
Besides their liturgical services to the worshiping community at weekend Masses, the gentleman of the Ushers’ Club hold an annual Winter Raffle for parish improvements, host an annual Ladies’ Breakfast on the first Sunday of May, arrange a sports excursion yearly, and underwrite the expenses of our Vacation Bible School.
